I remember!
Do you remeber what you wanted to be as a little kid?!
I do! At first I wanted to be a pilot. Didn’t workout like that because I had a fear of flying and was having way to much fun outside of the schoolbooks. At a certain point I believed that I could be a profesional footbal/soccer player. Discipline wasn’t my ‘main thing’…
But some how I can remember it like yesterday, that I loved to play old vinyl records from my mom and was obsessed with ‘scratchin’ these records. I never turned out to be turntabelist/scratch DJ.
But I still remember seeing my cousin DJ-ing on family parties on those SL-1200 turntables. I remember my uncle playin old school Rhythm & Blues every sundaymorning at non-christian time.
I remember seeing a videotape of Dj Cash Money winning the 1988 DMC championship. I remember seeing Yo! MTV Raps Ed Lover doin his ‘Ed Lover dance’ and Dr Dre cutting up ‘The 45 King – 900 Number’.
I remember staying up late to watch a programme called ‘The DJ’s', seeing DJ’s playin in a club in front hundreds of peoples. I remember buying my first vinyl-record from the group called Zhane – Shame.
I remember DJ-ing my first time in front of a big audience, I was 16 years old a thousand people in front of me. I remember carrying around those damned ‘milkcrates’ from my friends Dj Kid & Original. I remember my first time playin at a big festival in front of 1000+ people.
I remember switchin from vinyl to cd’s was hard. I remember beeing a ‘warm-up DJ’ for almost 4 years, before getting my own night.
I could go on for days with what ‘I remember’. But all I wanna do is make those memories and keep on living and encourage to follow your dreams. Cause my dreams and memories brought me to where I am now.
